Young Leaders Conference


Registration for YLC 2014 IS NOW OPEN! 

The University of Florida Student Government is the second largest student government in the United States and has a rich tradition of fostering the nation’s finest leaders. As an organization dedicated to the development of successful leaders, we are proud to sponsor the 7th annual Young Leaders Conference to be held February 7- 9, 2014 in Gainesville, FL. The Young Leaders Conference is a three-day high school leadership conference organized and run entirely by UF students. I would like to extend to you the opportunity for students from your high school to attend. We ask that you nominate outstanding leaders at the freshman to senior level as delegates for this year’s conference.

This conference will bring Florida’s most outstanding student leaders together at the University of Florida campus for extensive leadership development. Interactive workshops and seminars based on “The Leadership Challenge” (Kouzes & Posner, 2007) will allow the participants to improve their leadership theory and experiences. The focus will be on the five practices of exemplary leadership as identified in "The Leadership Challenge": Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. Students will attend presentations and workshops given by the University of Florida student leaders and administrators. In addition, they will have the opportunity to engage in several team-building and service-learning activities designed to challenge each student’s leadership abilities.

The 2014 conference fees are as follows:

Early Registration: $215 per person prior to November 30th, 2013
Regular Registration: $250 per person prior to December 5th, 2013
$20 per person for Sunday Brunch

The envelope must be postmarked by the above dates in order to be admitted to the conference for that cost. Applications postmarked after December 5th, 2013 will not be accepted. Please make all checks payable to the University of Florida. We have limited space; therefore, we greatly appreciate prompt registration.
