In-State Angels Tuition Assistance

We at In-State Angels help out-of-state college students earn in-state tuition at over 80 universities across the country.  Since 17% of high school students end up going to an out-of-state college, there's a good chance you know a few and I believe you and your students have a right to know about this possibility.  It may very well be the difference between a student being able to attend their dream college or not; if we can help even one student you know, then we want to.

We are a small company headquartered in Boulder, CO made up of former college students (rated A- with Better Business Bureau)---and we're trying hard to make a difference in the variety of education practically available to students.  We believe every student should have the freedom to go to the university of their choice, in the state of their choice, without being dissuaded by an out-of-state tuition price tag.

Over the past 3 years, we at In-State Angels have had a 100% success rate in helping our clients earn in-state tuition.  Due to our success and positive feedback from students and high school counselors, we have recently expanded to over 80 universities across America with many more universities to be added soon.

If you know any students who have gotten into or will be going to any of the colleges below as an out-of-state student, please share our information.  Please feel free to forward this email.  Our website is https://www.instateangels.com.

Wings Over America Scholarship

Dear SLO’s,

We hope that you can help our organization continue to spread the word about the scholarships being offered by Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation.   Early in the fall we emailed guidance counselors at schools near Naval Air Stations around the country.  We are hoping as our pre-qualification deadline nears we can make one last chance to ensure all students know about our scholarship program.

These are available to dependent spouses and children, Officer and Enlisted, active duty, retired, honorably discharged or deceased.  The sponsors must have served in naval aviation and subordinate (squadrons, naval air stations, training, carriers, etc.) commands. Scholarships are awarded to further the undergraduate education of students. Since 1987 our foundation has awarded scholarships to deserving high school students, college students and spouses totaling over $740,000.

Candidates who submit applications must be graduates or graduating seniors of an accredited high school and an equivalent home school or institution and must plan to attend an accredited academic institution during the 2011-2012 school year. Additional eligibility requirements and the are listed on our website at www.wingsoveramerica.us. We have a new online system this year which can be accessed through our website. The pre-qualification deadline  is March 1st.

I have attached two flyers about our program. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you for your support.

We wanted you to know that our next ACT prep session begins next Tuesday evening, February 25th and runs through Thursday, April 10th, in advance of the April 12th ACT testing.  Our class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and is free of charge, of course.  We do have numerous students from our previous session who will be joining us again, but we would certainly be more than happy to serve anyone who would like to attend.

PFLAG Scholarship

The PFLAG Scholarship program is a critical component of our Cultivating Respect: Safe Schools for All Program, rewarding hard work and leadership in the next generation. It is an opportunity to reach out to young people and acknowledge their role in building our community. What better way to show our commitment to students than to provide support for role models and pioneers around the country that are making schools safer for all students?
PFLAG’s local and national scholarships are one of the many ways PFLAG supports LGBT and ally youth. Support the students in your community by encouraging them to apply for the PFLAG Scholarship Program.

Many PFLAG chapters have scholarship programs as well. Students are eligible to receive scholarships from both their local chapter and the national office so encourage students you know to apply for both. Review the list of chapter scholarships.

Eligibility Requirements

·         You are a graduating senior entering higher education for the first time this calendar year
(Note: if you graduated in the past year and took a time off you are still eligible to apply).
·         Self identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) or are an ally of the LGBT community
·         Demonstrate an interest in service to the LGBT community.
·         Have applied to an accredited U.S.higher education institution.

Ricardo Correa Scholarship Foundation

Ricardo (Ric) Correa grew up in the Milwaukee/Menominee Falls area of Wisconsin. He worked as a waiter most of his adult life, but was a gifted artist, avid reader, and a very creative home interior designer. At the age of seventeen, a few weeks before graduating from high school, he left home because his family found out that he was gay. Despite this early set-back in his life, he went on to reconcile with his family and was very close to them upon his death in 2004. He was a business owner (part owner of Grand Avenue Pub in 1980's), a loving partner for fifteen years (Peter J. Konrath-partner), and a leader in the gay community.

Mission Statement:

This scholarship was set up to give a future gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgender public high school senior a chance to become a future leader in the gay community! There are two separate scholarships that will be given out each year. The $1,000 Wisconsin State Scholarship will be awarded in the spring. Candidates who apply for the state scholarship will automatically be enrolled in the National Scholarship. The $2,000 National Scholarship will be awarded at the NEA-RA around the 4th of July! The top twenty candidates will be picked by a committee made up of foundation board members in May. At the NEA Convention in July, a committee of NEA members (see selection committee in By-laws) will pick the winner(s).

Families that are looking to raise their SAT scores can call either our local, direct number at 718.880.3670., or our national number at 1-800-527-8378 for more information.
