Community Service Opportunity – Trail Maintenance on January 20, 2013

Monday, January 20, 2014 (MLK Day) – 8:30 am – 12 noon
WHERE? Seaton Creek Preserve (northside)
WHAT? Trail maintenance – lopping and chopping and clearing debris from the trails at Jacksonville’s newest Preserve!

“Timucuan Adventure Day”
WHEN? Saturday, February 1, 2014, 10 am to 3 pm
WHERE? Throughout the Timucuan Preserve, primarily Ft. Caroline National Memorial and The Ribault Club at Ft. George Island Cultural State Park
WHAT? Citizen Science - hands-on activities and data collection with science experts, including:
- Water quality monitoring and phytoplankton survey
- Etymology - insect inventory
- Weather station
- Kayaking/Bird survey
- Big Anchor project
- Picture Posts
WHO ARE THE EXPERTS? Scientists from the National Park Service, Talbot Islands State Park, City of Jacksonville, University of North Florida, Jacksonville University, Florida Public Archaeology Network, and Florida Department of Environmental Protection
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? YOU!! Students, teachers, seniors, your mom, your dad, anyone who wants to help collect scientific data in the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve!
